Pacers

Runners in the 100km and 70km have the option to pick up a registered pacer at the Kinloch Domain with 24km to go. You pick up your runner outside the Kinloch Hall on the Kinloch Domain and head through the streets of Kinloch before climbing into the wonderful Great Lake Trail’s W2K Trail to the finishline at Whakaipo Bay.

Rules regarding pacing:

  • Pacers MUST be registered through the online registration system.

  • All Pacers must wear their compulsory race number, which you will receive at registration.

  • Pacers are required to carry compulsory gear - see below. This will be checked at Registration.

  • Pacers are not allowed to carry the compulsory gear for the participant they are supporting.

  • Pacers must not carry any extra water, food or equipment for the participant they are supporting.

  • Pacers cannot begin running or walking with their athlete before or after the designated start location in Kinloch.

  • The minimum age for Pacers is 18 years old.

  • With the exception of an emergency or medical situation, Pacers cannot provide any material or physical assistance to their athletes.

Registration & Gear Check

Pacers can register on Friday night or at the Kinloch Domain on Saturday. If you wish to collect your pacers race number on their behalf you must have their compulsory gear & shoes for inspection.

Lights

All runners (including pacers) will need to have a light for the final 24km leg from Kinloch to Whakaipo Bay if they leave the Kinloch aid station after 2:30pm. This will be strictly enforced.

Aid Stations

Aid Station 1 - Headland 1 6 km
Aid Station 2 - Headland 2 16 km
 

The Aid Stations are stocked with lollies, gingernuts, chips, pretzels and bananas, water, R-Line electrolyte drink and coke. Fluid will be available in jugs and water containers to enable competitors to fill up drink bottles or bladders. Aid stations are clearly marked on the course maps. (distances approx)

In an effort to reduce our footprint, we ask that you please bring either a reusable cup, drink bottle or hydration bladder as we will not have any disposable cups.

Driving Instructions to the Start Line

Allow 20mins from Taupo
Head out of Taupo to the Thermal Explorer Highway go across the control gate bridge and head up the hill for 1km. Turn left into Poihipi Road, travel along Poihipi Road for 9.7km, then turn left into Whangamata Road (follow signs to Kinloch) , travel along Whangamata Road before turning left into Kinloch Road, after 2.1 km turn right to stay on Kinloch Road, then turn left into the Domain carpark
